What is llms.txt?

A plain Markdown file at yoursite.com/llms.txt that tells AI tools, in a few lines, what your site is and which pages matter. It was proposed at llmstxt.org as a convention; it is not an official web standard.

Does llms.txt make ChatGPT recommend my business?

Not on its own. No AI engine has said it ranks or recommends businesses because of llms.txt. It helps tools that do read it understand your site; what gets you recommended is being described clearly on your own pages and on the sites the engines cite.

What should an llms.txt contain?

A # title with your name, a one-line > summary of what you do, for whom and where, then sections of links to your most useful pages. This tool builds that structure from your homepage and sitemap; edit the summary in your own words.

Where do I put the file?

At the root of your domain, so it opens at yoursite.com/llms.txt as plain text. Most site builders let you upload a file to the root; on WordPress a plugin or your host's file manager can do it.
